Choose the quality and model for generated video
Pick Draft, Standard or Premium for the shots the Director proposes, choose the model for a single shot, and set your project's defaults — and what each choice does to the price.
Video shots made by the Director come in three quality tiers, and each tier renders on a model you can change. Every choice here is free to make; it only changes the price on the card, which you approve or reject before any shot is generated. This is the Mac and Windows app.
The three tiers
- Draft — the cheapest, for iterating and bulk coverage.
- Standard — the balanced default.
- Premium — for hero shots, at several times Draft’s cost.
On the approval card
When the Director proposes video shots, its approval card has a Quality row. Choosing a tier there changes it for every shot on the card, and the card’s total is priced again, so the number you see is the one held when you approve.
To change one shot’s model, choose the arrow beside that shot’s price. The MODEL list opens under the shot and shows every model that can make it, each with its price for that shot. A model that can’t make it is greyed out with the reason, never hidden.
Before and after a shot is made
A proposed shot that hasn’t been generated yet also has a Model menu in the Inspector, under MODEL & CAST. Once a shot has been generated, a different model means a new, priced attempt at it, not a free switch.
Your project’s defaults
Open Project settings with the gear at the top of the editor, and find Generation:
- Default quality tier sets the tier new shots start on.
- Model Kit chooses which model each tier renders on. A model you choose for a single shot still wins over it.
For what each model costs, see what generation costs. For the Director itself, see work with the Director.
