Use effects and presets
Put blur, sharpen, a mask, a vignette, grain and other effects on a clip from the Shelf, stack and bypass them, and save your own stack as a preset to reuse.
Every effect is free and works offline. This is the Mac and Windows app.
Apply an effect
Select one or more clips on a video track. Open the Library’s SHELF and its EFFECTS tab, or choose + Effect on the Inspector’s Effects tab. The cards are grouped as TOOLS, ALPHA CUTS and LOOKS; type in Search to find one. Click a card to apply it to the selected clips — cards are clicked, not dragged — and the foot of the shelf names the clips it will land on.
One effect, Stabilize, is marked NOT IN PREVIEW: it applies only in a master rendered on our servers. See stabilize shaky footage.
Manage the stack
A clip’s effects are listed under EFFECT STACK in the Inspector. Each one has a switch to bypass it (the card then reads BYPASSED), and buttons to move it up or down the stack or remove it.
Save your own preset
Choose Save as preset… at the top of the stack, or right-click the clip and choose Save effects as preset….
Tick the effects to keep and choose Save preset. A preset of one effect is saved under that effect’s card on the
Shelf; a preset of several becomes its own card at the end of LOOKS, marked YOURS. Click it to apply it to
the selected clips. Presets are saved on this computer; its ⋯ menu can rename, duplicate, update, export or
delete one, and you can drop a .horoptic-preset file on the Shelf to import it.
⌘Z undoes any change.
