Move a project to the Cloud
Promote a Local project to the Cloud to open it on another computer and use the Director and generation — what uploads, what happens to your copy, and how editing offline works.
Every project starts Local: it lives on this computer and needs no account. Promote it to the Cloud when you want to open it on another computer, or to use the Director, generation or a server master. This is the Mac and Windows app.
Promote a project
On Home, open a Local project’s card menu and choose Promote to Cloud…, or use the go-Cloud button in an open project’s top bar. You sign in first if you have not. A card then says what will happen — your edit history is replayed into the cloud copy, and its media uploads in the background — and you choose Promote, or Cancel.
Promoting spends no credits, and nothing is deleted from this computer. If your cloud storage is too small for the project’s media, the card says so before you promote, and offers Keep it local.
What uploads
Your imported footage and stills upload in the background while you keep editing. The top bar shows the upload’s progress, then Synced when everything is up. Keep Horoptic open until it finishes: if the upload stops, the bar reads Not all up, your cut is still safe and synced, and Resume sends the rest.
Your copy on this computer
When the cloud copy is complete, the Local project stays on this computer as a Kept copy, read-only, marked in the top bar. From its card menu you can Open read-only, choose Duplicate as an editable project…, or Remove the kept copy — the cloud project stays either way.
On another computer
Sign in on the other computer: on Home, filter to Cloud to see your Cloud projects. Edits made on one computer reach the other on their own; there is no conflict screen to resolve.
Editing offline
If the connection drops, a Cloud project keeps editing and the top bar reads Offline, counting the edits waiting to sync; export waits until you reconnect. Those edits are held in the open app until they reach the cloud, not saved on this computer, so keep Horoptic open until you are back online. If you quit before they sync, Horoptic warns you once; quitting again loses them.
Deleting a Cloud project
Deleting a Cloud project removes it from every synced device, with its media in the cloud. A kept copy on this computer stays, and becomes an ordinary Local project you can edit.
