THE DIRECTOR · THE CLOUD UPGRADE

A second operator.
Not a chatbot.

Describe what you want. The Director reads your project, then does the work by pressing the same buttons you do — real operations on your timeline, live in front of you. No hidden path: every move is a typed operation on the record.

THE MECHANIC

How it actually works.

There's no privileged path. Intent becomes typed operations, and operations land on the one op-log every edit shares — the same log your own cuts write, each move labeled as the Director's.

01
You describe intent
"Warm the dusk, cover the gap." Plain language, by typing.
02
Reads your project
A snapshot of the timeline, clips, markers and the op-log.
03
Types operations
The same typed ops your buttons call — nothing more.
04
Lands on the op-log
Onto the one op-log every edit shares — labeled, inspectable, yours.
05
Applies live
You watch each operation land on the timeline — no cutscene, no jump to a finished file.
NO HIDDEN API The Director goes through the same typed-operation layer as every button in the app. Nothing lands off the record — every move is on the op-log, labeled as its own.
PROPOSE · APPROVE · GENERATE · COMMIT

The lifecycle, end to end.

Free edits apply live as it works — no approval step, you watch them land. Generation and renders are the spend: proposed with a credit total, reserved only on your yes. The conversation itself is metered, drawing what each turn's reasoning used. Approve the proposal below and watch it commit.

DIRECTOR ready
The rooftop opener feels flat. Make it breathe, and warm the dusk.
Six cuts in nineteen seconds and nothing holds longer than two — it reads rushed. I'll hold the wide and warm the dusk — those edits are free — then generate a short B-roll insert to cover the gap it opens. The generation is a proposal: nothing reserves until you say so.

SPEND SAFETY

It physically can't overspend.

Reserve at approval, settle after. Credits hold when you approve; the true cost settles when the work lands — and it's capped at the estimate.
Failed jobs cost nothing. If a generation doesn't land, the reservation is released in full.
Can't spend an empty wallet. With no credits, paid actions simply aren't offered — the free editor keeps working.

WATCH IT WORK

The choreography is real.

As it works, a focus halo moves from clip to clip and the inspector updates in place — not a cutscene, but the actual operations landing. The Director never drives a cursor; it types operations and the UI shows the result.

A PRINCIPLED NO

It declines before it spends.

Ask for a real person's likeness without their consent, or anything a model provider would refuse, and the Director says no — before a single credit is reserved — then offers a route that actually works.

THE OPERATION SET

Exactly your operations — plus generation.

Every edit you can make by hand, it can make too. The only thing it adds is the ability to propose multi-model generation — which spends, once you approve. Export, master and app-level commands are deliberately off its list; those stay yours alone.

EDIT OPERATIONS· FREE
Trims — slip / roll / slide / ripple / blade
Color — grade, match, LUTs
Audio — levels, ducking, mix

Reframe — pan, scale, crop
Every edit command in ⌘K
GENERATION PROPOSALS· SPENDS
Video — B-roll, inserts, plates
Voice — narration, ADR lines
Music — score, stings, beds
Multi-model, chosen per job. Lands as a real clip you can trim, grade and score.
STRAIGHT TALK
The Director needs Cloud.

It's the upgrade over the free local editor — an account and credits. Manual editing stays free and offline.

STRAIGHT TALK
It works by typing.

You direct it in text, and it writes operations. There's no microphone — voice input isn't part of it.

STRAIGHT TALK
It acts within a turn.

It responds to what you ask, then waits. It doesn't run off on its own or edit while you're away.
